volunteering
Thousands of people of all ages volunteer in Hampshire and the choice of opportunities is endless from helping an elderly neighbour with their shopping, to providing legal advice for a local charity, volunteers make a vital contribution to all aspects of community life.
Volunteer Centres can help volunteers find the answers to what, where, when and how to volunteer. They can identify volunteering opportunities within some of the many local voluntary, community and charitable organisations that desperately need volunteers in order to fulfil their mission and help people and communities in their area.
Volunteer Centres can offer you a one-to-one confidential interview, either in person or over the telephone, giving you the chance to tell them about your own interests, what you want to get out of volunteering, and the skills and commitment you can offer. The co-ordinator can then help you to identify which organisations can benefit most from your input and which opportunities you might enjoy.
Another option is to visit http://www.do-it.org/to browse the national volunteering database. If you see an opportunity you are interested in, you can fill in the application online. The organisation or the local Volunteer Centre will then contact you to arrange the next step in the process.
Volunteer Centres are the beating heart of volunteering providing life blood to local communities.
