  • Cost: This is course is free to attend, but there will be a £25 non-attendance charge if people do not attend or cancel with less than a week’s notice. Participants are required to attend both days.

This training session aimed primarily at people who work in the voluntary and community sector is jointly organised by Community First and Hart Voluntary Action.

Effective supervision and appraisal can be a powerful tool and if undertaken correctly and effectively, appraisal and supervision is an opportunity to motivate staff and improve performance.

Day 1
Consider what supervision is and what it is not.
Understand your own organisation’s requirements around standards and expectations (frequency etc).
Understand the purpose and benefits of performance reviews.
How to plan and have an effective performance conversation which involves both parties.
How to document a performance review and conversation.
Difficult conversations.

Day 2
Motivating individuals and teams.
How to set meaningful and relevant performance goals and agree actions.
Personal development plans and KASH/self-reflection.
Coaching models and how to use them.
Listening skills.
