Supporting Equality

We at Hampshire CVS know the importance of equality and mutual respect in our work, volunteering and personal lives. We do not tolerate abuse, bigotry or discrimination of any kind- the volunteering and not-for-profit sector is founded in the desire to help and understand others, and we have maintained these principles over many years. Our sector is incredibly diverse, but as with many organisations and sectors, improvements can still be made.

If you are being unjustly treated in the workplace, or wish to support equality within your own workplace by helping someone you know, this directory may be of use.

The Equality Act came into force on 1 October 2010. It brought together many pieces of legislation into one single Act providing a legal framework to protect the rights of individuals and advance equality of opportunity for all. These are called ‘Protected Characteristics’, and as many people fall into one or more prejudiced groups and require help we have created a directory to help you identify support in your area. There are many charities, community groups and social enterprises working across Hampshire to support individuals, which can be found below.
